Modern forms of treatment that combine psychotherapy and medication intervention have been used in a wide range of possibilities. Furthermore, there has been a greater demand for the use of appropriate medications, combined with the use of psychotherapeutic techniques, which has increasingly drawn the attention of both psychologists and psychiatrists. The combination between these two therapies has proven to be especially important in situations of bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, and even schizophrenia, where the use of medication alone tends to stabilize the condition. The present study discusses mental health and the benefits of an association between psychological treatment and drug therapy. It was concluded that the combination of psychotherapy with pharmacotherapy represents a more complete strategy for the treatment of various mental disorders. Although there are challenges to be faced, the benefits of this combination, such as more effective reduction of symptoms, prevention of relapses and better adherence to treatment, demonstrate that this is a powerful strategy to improve patients' quality of life.
