Abstract

Abstract: This study investigated anxiety levels among university students in Psychology and their relationship with sociodemographic and academic-occupational variables. Anxiety was assessed using an adapted version of the Hamilton Anxiety Scale, encompassing physical, cognitive, and behavioral symptoms. Results indicated that factors such as parenthood, marital status, work modality, perceived academic and occupational competence, eating habits, and substance use significantly influenced anxiety levels. Specifically, parenthood, being married, hybrid work modality, and higher perceived competence acted as protective factors, while absence of children, being single, anxiety-related impacts on eating, and substance use were associated with higher anxiety scores. It is concluded that university anxiety is multifactorial and complex, reflecting interactions between individual, academic, and social factors, highlighting the importance of support strategies, flexibility, and emotional management to promote students' psychological well-being.
