The aim of this study is to map in the literature the care adopted in the reuse of suction probes/catheters in tracheostomized patients in home care. Methodology: This is a scoping review protocol, carried out in accordance with the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) checklist, following the following steps: protocol; eligibility criteria; sources of information; search strategy; selection of sources of evidence; data extraction; data analysis and presentation of results. The review question is: What are the management practices adopted for the reuse of suction probes/catheters in tracheostomized patients in home care? To identify relevant documents, the following bibliographic databases will be searched: Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences (LILACS); Public Medline, via PubMed; Cochrane Library; Embase and Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature (CINAHL). Gray literature studies will also be considered, such as the World Health Organization database, Google Scholar, the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD), the institutional repository of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ) and any research, guidelines/protocols related to the topic of this review. The result of the selection flow, of this methodological stage, will be presented in the form of a figure, according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses. Results: The results of this study will provide knowledge about these managements with a view to revealing gaps for future research and decision-making in home care interventions for these patients. Conclusion: This study constitutes the first step towards a research that aims to systematize and/or standardize care in the reuse of suction probes/catheters in tracheostomized patients in home care.
