Lip fillers with hyaluronic acid are a widely performed aesthetic procedure. However, when misdirected or applied incorrectly, they can result in noticeable asymmetries and irregularities, impacting facial harmony and patient satisfaction. This case is relevant because it demonstrates the efficacy of hyaluronidase in the complete reversal of an unsatisfactory lip filler, followed by a successful re-application, with a natural and uneventful aesthetic result. This contributes to the literature with a safe and effective clinical approach. The objective was to report a clinical case of lip filler correction using hyaluronidase and subsequent re-application of hyaluronic acid, emphasizing the clinical course, interventions, and outcome. The case reinforces the importance of hyaluronidase as a safe and effective tool in the correction of unsatisfactory lip fillers, enabling a re-application with satisfactory aesthetic results. Correct clinical evaluation and appropriate technique selection are essential for therapeutic success.
Objective: To report a clinical case of lip filler correction using hyaluronidase, followed by a new hyaluronic acid application, highlighting the clinical course, interventions, and outcomes.
Case Report: A female patient presented with complaints of lip asymmetry and irregularities after a lip filler procedure performed by another professional. No other local or systemic complications were noted upon examination. A single session of hyaluronidase was administered, resulting in complete dissolution of the product. Fifteen days later, a new hyaluronic acid filler (1 mL) was applied under local anesthesia using a combined cannula and needle technique. The clinical outcome was satisfactory, with a regular, symmetrical, and natural lip contour. The patient adhered well to the treatment and experienced no adverse events.
Conclusion: This case reinforces the value of hyaluronidase as a safe and effective tool for correcting unsatisfactory lip fillers, allowing for subsequent interventions with successful aesthetic outcomes. Accurate clinical assessment and appropriate technique selection are essential for therapeutic success.
