Maus-Tratos Infantis: lesões que podem ser identificadas por Cirurgiões-Dentistas / Child Abuse: Lesions that can be identified by Dentists

Os maus-tratos infantis representam um grave problema de saúde pública. Os profissionais de saúde, em especial os cirurgiões-dentistas, possuem um importante papel na identificação dessas lesões por manterem contato direto com a criança vítima. O objetivo dessa pesquisa foi revisar a literatura científica buscando as lesões relacionadas ao AFI que podem ser identificadas pelo cirurgião-dentista, ressaltando o papel desses profissionais na detecção e notificação de casos suspeitos. Foram pesquisados artigos científicos, em inglês e português, disponíveis nas bases de dados PUBMED, Scielo e Google Acadêmico. Utilizaram-se como descritores: maus-tratos infantis, cirurgião-dentista, pessoal de saúde. Os resultados demonstraram que a negligência e o abuso físico são as mais frequentes injurias encontradas contra a criança. O cirurgião-dentista pode identificar várias lesões orais como hematomas, lacerações de lábio, fraturas, avulsões, equimoses, queimaduras, arranhões e lacerações de freio lingual e bucal. Os sinais surgem preferencialmente na região da língua, dos lábios, do palato duro ou mole, da gengiva, do freio labial ou da mucosa. Esta revisão torna-se útil por auxiliar os profissionais de saúde na compreensão dos sinais e sintomas que evidenciam situações de maus-tratos infantis.Downloads
